Music Ministries at St. John's
St. John’s Music Ministries, under the direction of Alan C. Reed, bring to life the words of hymns and services every Sunday, in perfect concert with the Brunzema/Smith Organ. St. John's Music Ministries are affiliated with the Royal School of Church Music in America, an organization dedicated to the enrichment of Christian worship through excellence in music.
The musical ministries of St. John’s include girls and boys, women and men, who work together not only to support the congregation in its singing, but to learn music to offer in our various services of worship. Each ensemble of singers or instrumentalists forms a group committed to ministry together.
Our ministries are always recruiting and welcoming new members. The members of the music ministries proclaim the Gospel through their music, support the congregation’s song, offer pieces on their own, and learn about our Christian faith.
Through the Royal School of Church Music training scheme, the choir program offers the opportunity to learn about vocal production, reading music, and understanding hymnody and anthem texts based on the Scripture that is at the heart of all that we do.
We have ensembles for bell ringers, singers, instrumentalists, and musicians of all ages, from 5-85! With eight choir and ensemble offerings for members and friends of St. John's Church, there is definitely one that is right for you. Please come and join us! Please contact Alan Reed at 704-366-3034 x235 to learn more about the ensemble in which you would like to serve.
